Brindabella Airlines now connecting Port Macquarie and the Mid-North Coast
Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile, will welcome the start of the new airline into Port Macquarie.
On the 1st of October 2006, Brindabella Airlines commenced flying into Port Macquarie Airport. Brindabella has taken over the NSW costal routes previously operated by Sunshine Express. The agreement between Brindabella Airlines and Sunshine Express has been a seamless transition for passengers traveling between Port Macquarie, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour and Brisbane. Brindabella will be utilising the same equipment and staff currently provided by Sunshine Express.
Brindabella Airlines is a privately owned company with the main office and 50 staff members located at Canberra International Airport, staff are also located at Newcastle Airport. Brindabella Airlines' schedule also includes direct flights from Canberra to Albury and Newcastle. The introduction of the airline will benefit the Port Macquarie community with two direct flights a day to both Newcastle and Coffs Harbour, with connections onto Brisbane. Making the announcement, Mr Laffer of Sunshine Express said, We are delighted to have reached such a mutually advantageous agreement with Brindabella Airlines who have extremely high business standards and a strong commitment to continue our coastal New South Wales routes
. In response, Mr Boyd of Brindabella Airlines said, We have been keen to expand our route network from our Newcastle base and now this agreement with Sunshine Express allows us to further develop our business by continuing through to Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Brisbane

The official launch will be held Wednesday 4 October 2006, at the Port Macquarie Airport. The launch will be officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile and Brindabella Airlines CEO Mr Jeff Boyd.
