It was 12 months ago that the brand new service commenced with the support and assistance of the Cobar Council and three local mines – Peak Gold Mines Pty Ltd, CBH Resources Ltd and Cobar Management Pty Ltd.

Without the fantastic support and assistance of the Council and the mines, Brindabella would probably not be operating in Cobar today CEO of Brindabella Airlines, Jeff Boyd said.

The Cobar service was a big step for Brindabella because whilst we operated from Canberra and Brisbane, we had never had a base at Sydney Airport before. But the operational arrangements in Sydney went well, and from day one we were welcomed to Cobar. The community and local businesses really got behind us Mr Boyd said.

Brindabella Airlines commenced with a morning service on Mondays to Fridays, but over the past year afternoon flights have been added to meet the demand. The service is now operating mornings and afternoons on weekdays – effectively double the number of seats than when the service started.

The Cobar Council has recently completed a runway extension at the airport which is going through the final stages of approval by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

The extension will enable more operational capability and is a great improvement for the community's local infrastructure Jeff Boyd said.

Brindabella Airlines is proud to provide airline services to the Cobar area, and to support the community in other ways such as by getting involved with some of the local events. Our pilots love the route and we do try to offer a personal service you don't always get on larger airlines Jeff Boyd said.

Brindabella Airlines has been providing safe and reliable air services to local communities since 1994. Starting as an executive aircraft charter and aircraft hire service with an affiliated aircraft maintenance business, Brindabella Airlines has grown steadily since its inception. In 2003 the business was expanded to provide regional airline services and the first two routes were between Canberra and Newcastle, and Canberra and Albury. Brindabella Airlines now offers over 150 flights per week to destinations such as Canberra, Albury, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, Moree, Cobar, Armidale, Sydney and Brisbane. Brindabella Airlines is a Qantas affiliate airline and passengers travelling with Brindabella can earn and redeem Frequent Flyer points.
